Shelley Hart Martin "I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could" - I have heard this saying many times about Maine, and it is so true. What we have here in this state is truly special - stunning, rugged coastline; beautiful, sandy beaches; and amazing forests, rivers and streams that stretch on and on. There is no other State in the union that can offer what we have and in such proximity. My Maine adventure began over 25 years ago with weekend trips to the Winthrop Lakes region and then long weeks on Casco Bay islands. Finally, my partner and I bought our own piece of paradise when we purchased a 26-acre wooded lot in Downeast Maine. There, my partner, and I built a timber frame home and raised pigs, goats, rabbits, and chickens. Quintessential back-to-the-land living. Kennebunk is our home base now - we have owned a home here since 2008 - and I think there is no greater area anywhere.
